It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there Healy was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
